You are very welcome, thanks for joining! It's good to see you get enjoyment out of the site. Feel free to inviteyour classmates, there aren't enough Canadians here!
I've been looking at the Ontario Association of Osteopaths web site and I'll be in contact with them to get a better idea of how things work and weather my degree would be recognised in canada.
The Brookes web site is confusing and not clear as to how the course is broken down. There are 4 yr full time and 5 yr part time programmes and also no masters coures of 2 yrs. You can get onto a course with good highschool grades or an acess course. Lots of people at Brookes already work in health care and hold a first degree. Competetion for the goverment funded courses is feirce. But overall BOst is considered a medical degree and the title is protected by law, it is also an excellent way to get into medicine and qualify as a doctor.
The only bad thing is that it England!
I'm guessing that you are in your 2/3 yr. We have a lot of European students studying osteopathy in the UK because it is cheaper and on the whole a better recognised qualification. I studied at the BSO which was an excellent start and then transferred to Brookes. Both are great colleges and both have there strenghts and weaknesses. It would be a great idea for you to study here for a year for comparison
I am thinking of moving to Canada - (Toronto area) in the next few years could you please give me some information of the main colleges and requirements to practice
Many thanks look forward to hearing from you
