interesting times

When I was a student i used to wonder what it would be like to be a full time osteopath, so ask away if you want, (as a prelude to deeper matters about our science and our our art obviously...)

Well im sure we have opened up a Pandora's Box! So the important questions then,
do you feel fulfilled as an Osteopath on a personal level, educational level or is there a
burning desire to do more courses or hunt down more knowledge?

Do you think you have the balanced package lifestyle? Is is fact or fiction in reality?

I'd like to know how full-time osteopaths feel about spending all their time in a room, and one in which they work one-on-one. Don't you ever feel the need to get out and about, or work in a creative team environment?

Being a full time osteopath can take very different forms and there are lots of different "styles" of practice, so you won't necessarily be in this situation. Personally I divide my time between teaching (2-2.5 days) and practice (3-3.5 days). Teaching is obviously very much a team environment (I teach mostly postgraduate osteopaths, so clinical supervision is about treating patients as a team effort).

In practice, I've always worked in a big group practice where osteopaths are not designated their own room (I change rooms between patients, or at least return to the office to wash my hands and pick up new notes) and during breaks/lunch there are other osteopaths around in the office.

This was a choice I made because I do very much like a team environment....having access to other osteopaths with different ideas is also good for development as a practitioner.
