Sacral Musings

so... we've started the basic cranial course on friday mornings
it's really interesting, and is something i'm really enjoying doing.. and getting fairly good results at.. i think..

but

it ruins my day.. i'm supposed to have lectures after, but it just leaves me feeling so spaced out that i can barely think, let alone go into another practical lecture..
i feel hungry, but can't eat for a couple of hours...

the tutors say it's about energy, and grounding yourself so you don't give out too much (yes i know it sounds very hippy-ish). and i thought i'd been better this week, but i still come out feeling weird.

...feels like an E come down or something.... very bizarre..
..the only thing i've found that actually helps, so far, is alcohol... which i'm sure isn't a great thing.

hmm.. a short note as become quite lengthy...

anyone reading this have any thoughts?

Hmmm, that is strange....im finding that i have more energy coming out of the lecture than when i go in. Maybe it would be wise for you to see one of the tutors before leaving so they can return you to balance after the students have treated you.

Yeah, I agree with Storey.
A few things can happen i think, which in the end drains you.

1. what your tutors said. When treating, you achieve a change in the patient's/model's body. Why doesn't the body make that change by itself? Because it does not have enough energy to do so (generally speaking). So you as the practitioner provide this energy. But it can come from you - your own, or you can act a channel between the universe and the patient, and therefore using the universal energy. Does that sound too hippy for you? :-) So if you use too much of your own you become drained, and need time to recover - food will get you more energy, so your hungry, ta ta! (and thirsty perhaps) I think your tutors are right when taking about the groundiness. When your grounded, you connect better with the universe and can therefore use its energy better. Interesting book about that (not directly related to osteopathy or therapy) is the Celestine Prophecy:

I never really understood what people meant about grounding yourself. Little exercises that we did at school did not seem to help. What helped to understand and to do it was this book (a few others as well) and an intro to the Alexander's technique. If you go to the back care show in London (beginning of october i think) there may be classes of AT (there was last year). I teach quite a few patients this method coz I find it rather crucial especially when they start to speak about posture. Now i'm better at it, it takes me 5-10 seconds to ground, and off we go!

2. another way you may get drained is when you get practiced on. Either a significant SD has been released and your body will required energy to change with respect to the release that's just taken place. Or, whoever practiced on you messed you up! In that, depending on probably quite a few components, the person practicing on you can put things out of balance. Same result as with HVTs. That will require energy from the body to cope with this input. That's why its a good idea to go see a tutor at the end of the class.

Some people are more sensitive to cranial than others. Are you an ectomorph by any chance? :-)

In the end, you may feel tired, hungry, thirst, ill, out of it, headache, irritated and many more when low on energy/drained.

Don't hesitate to ask anything that's blurry.
Find you rather attractive btw! Whot's your breast size? ;-)
