I appreciate the Osteopathic endeavour to treat more the cause but perhaps trigger points and visceral release may still be treating the mop and not the tap. Emotional stress, acidic diets, poor abdominal tone is all something we know about and yet we are often dragged into the structual components. Osteopathy does have the broader view as we know even if it is not taught that way today. I totally agree we need to release the fascia, diaphragm, trigger points but are these a layer of a bigger onion that needs to be peeled. I often find the ileo-caecal valve is problematic and congestion in the lower abdomen putting a drag on the viscera does not help either. These are common findings as you all know and unfortunately we are under that great tool called the watch. Our people want results today so trigger points and abdominal work often leads to relief of some sort. Peeling the onion is where we need to go. After all those disease specialists are not wanting health, that is where we are so different...and we should be very proud of that. Health is something we may chase and never find but it is still (excuse the pun) the greatest journey one can make. If we keep focusing on disease like we are being trained to do - then Gerd help us all...!

sorry this was suppose to be a reply to the article on GERD
A good post (even if not in the right place!) Peeling the onion... Teasing open the web... take time, can be frustrating, but to achieve sustainable improvements in life quality is the most satisfying thing, not least for the patient.
