Event Description

A group of osteopaths in the UK are intending to set up an annual low-cost introductory workshop for undergraduates and new graduates in osteopathy. The meetings will explore a topic each year from the point of view of biodynamic osteopathy in the cranial field, starting in 2010. The cost will be kept affordable for participants as we are a non-profit group asking experienced table assistants to donate their time to help assist at the event.
Please register your interest on the BioBasics website, whether as a participant or table assistant - more details to follow ...

If anyone who attended as a student could write something for Osteopathy Today we would appreciate that.

Hello Tom,

Care to cover what you did over the week-end for those who were unable to attend what sounded like an interesting event?

That went well, Good to see so many sacral musers there.

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE FIRST EVER BIOBASICS WORKSHOP TO BE HELD IN THE UK.

What is it? The BioBasics courses have been established in the U.S.A. And Australia for several years. The intention is to offer an affordable, supported community space in which osteopaths can explore the traditional osteopathic principles of:
Acknowledging the whole: The existing capacity of the body to recognise and support dysfunction at all levels.
Acknowledging that the existing shape, tone and motion patterns in the patient is the best demonstration of the treatment plan being expressed by the patient in the moment.
Exploring functional approaches designed to support the organising principles inherent within the body.
Is it for me? There is no previous skill or training level required to attend this event, which is open to final year undergraduates and graduate osteopaths from all backgrounds who would like to explore the Heart of Osteopathy in a closely supported and guided space with experienced supporting tutors on a one-to-one basis.

What is the theme? The weekend will be anchored around six speakers, exploring ‘Mechanisms of Breath in Osteopathy’, with plenty of time for sensory experience of expressions of breath.

Where will it be held? Columbia Hotel, Lancaster Gate W2 3NS, Saturday 17th & Sunday 18th July 2010. Cost £160.00

Bookings: See the website www.biobasics.co.uk for more details and to access an online form that will allow you to express an interest. Places will be limited to 50 participants/students and offered on a first come basis.
